Here at PanPages TRINITY, our efforts to better ourselves and our staff do not just stop at maintaining the Google Premier Partner status. With Google having having updates every now and then, it is crucial that we stay abreast with all the latest changes and what we can look forward to.

So, we send our staff on trainings and workshops that Google provides, including this year’s Digital Guru program!

    Performance Guru & Honors 2018

As an overview, the digital guru program was an invite-based program, and we were honored to be part of the learning program geared to help agency professionals create better performance campaigns for our clients.

Divided into 3 parts - Green Belt, Blue Belt and Black Belt, each training session provided us with valuable insights, tips and tricks into how to best utilize the Google Ads platform. Everything from the basic search ads and bidding methods to TrueView for Action, remarketing and building a business proposal for potential clients were covered, making the Digital Guru a special and valuable program for everyone present in the sessions.

    Digital Guru Certification

This year, two Trinitians had the chance to enroll in the Digital Guru program and they have graduated with the Black Belt Digital Guru certification.

Digital Guru Graduation 2018 was held on the 11th of October 2018, and we arrived at the graduation ceremony right after we attended the Malaysiakini E-Commerce Entrepreneurship Summit that very morning!

Our staff received their Digital Guru Black Belt certification along with a fancy graduation cap and a nice printed certificate that are safely displayed on the trophy corners in their homes.

Although it’s just these two staff that have received their graduation awards, our Trinitian specialist, manager and even CEO also came along to support them! Now, that’s not something that you see everyday.

Interns aside, these two staff are currently the youngest in TRINITY, and they have remarked how it was such an honour to receive all this support and learning opportunity early on in their career pathways in PanPages TRINITY.

If you are a soon-to-graduate or a fresh graduate looking for future job opportunities, you can definitely consider PanPages TRINITY as one of your potential career choices.

As one of the two Digital Guru Black Belt graduates, the writer can vouch for this company’s one for all, all for one mindset with a family-like, pleasant and friendly vibe. PanPages TRINITY is where you can develop yourself while you work with us - The company takes extra care to ensure that you are in an environment where you can advance your career pathway with new experiences, knowledge and skills.

Why not head on to our official website and take a look at our current job openings? All it takes is an hour or two of your day to come for an interview and see if you might like it here. We welcome you to be a part of the Trinitian family!

On the 11th and 12th of October 2018, PanPages TRINITY had the opportunity to attend the E-commerce Entrepreneurship Summit at the Palace of the Golden Horses organized by Malaysiakini as one of the strategic partners.

    Malaysiakini’s E-commerce Entrepreneurship Summit - An Overview

Aimed to bring together seasoned business leaders and young startup companies, the summit’s goal was to increase the overall awareness of e-commerce and entrepreneurship in Malaysia, in turn fostering a generation of talented and passionate young entrepreneurs who can further innovate and transform Malaysia’s e-commerce landscape.

Our staffs present during the event were able to learn more about the current eCommerce Ecosystem, Cloud solutions for SMEs and digital entrepreneurship among many other topics surrounding the current and upcoming eCommerce states, but that was far from the highlights of the event for us Trinitians.

Our attendance at the summit gained us an insight into the state of eCommerce in Malaysia - and overview of DFTZ and the the trends surrounding our digital economy. Of course, strategies catering to Malaysia’s current eCommerce landscape to stay ahead even across borders were discussed - an important find for all the attendees.

    We Are Playing Our Role

That is where PanPages TRINITY comes in. Mr. Christopher Ng, the CEO of PanPages TRINITY had the opportunity to discuss how catering to SMEs could be the often-overlooked factor that can help Malaysia’s eCommerce landscape to improve as a whole.

SMEs make up about 97% of the Malaysian market, providing employment opportunity for approximately 65% of the country's employment, 36% of Malaysia’s GDP and 18% of our nation’s export.

With just a little more than one year to achieve Malaysia’s Vision 2020 target to make our nation a high-income nation, SME Corp has brought several issues to our attention. The SME GDP needs to be raised up to 41%, and its export volume needs to be increased to 23% to make this aspect of Vision 2020 happen.

PanPages TRINITY has strived to bring Malaysia’s SME markets to greater heights, one business at a time. Not only do we provide responsive business website services for SME clients to get started with their digital presence, we also bring them on the entire digital marketing journey from branding, social media and search engine ads, to providing you a platform for worldwide exporting via Alibaba.com Gold Supplier Memberships.

    Are You Playing Your Part?

We have provided the means for local SME markets to achieve greater heights, changing Malaysia’s economic landscape in the long run.

Are you doing your part to improve your business and Malaysia’s economy?

As an initiative to help you take your first step towards a better digital presence, we are providing you a free digital audit and report. With this, you will be able to find out where you stand in the digital landscape, what can be improved and how we can help you do better.

If you have used this navigation app while you were getting around places, you would most likely have seen a Waze ad while you are stopped at a traffic light or searching for places nearby. You might have been prompted to save the location for later, or have the option to reroute and drive to the ad destination immediately. How do these ads work? Are they charged on a pay-per-click basis or are they charged based on impressions? Here's what you need to know.

Waze Ads : All You Need to Know

    Waze Ads

Did you know that Google has bought Waze for roughly $1 billion back in 2003? Since then, Google has started monetizing the traffic app by providing branded pins, search ads and takeover ads.

Why not launch these traffic ads on Google Maps?

Apparently, Google did try to monetize their app - which is used on a much bigger scale globally, but it did not achieve much success in comparison to Waze ads. Is it the cuter graphics and social functions, or something else? We wonder too.

Whatever the case might be, it might be notable that Waze Ads are not part of Google Ads, but rather exists as a separate platform on its own. There has not been news of these two platforms being integrated so far.

    Types of Waze Ads Available

    Waze Ad - Takeover Ad

    Zero-Speed Takeover Ads

When you sign up for Waze ads, your location could appear when users are near your location. Takeover ads as depicted in the picture above would take up about 1/3 of the user's phone screen, displaying your location when said user is stopped for at least 3 seconds. Users would have the option to save your location for later visit, save your offer and drive there - that's just a few of the possible actions that your users can take!

Waze Ad - Paid Search in Results

    Paid Search for Waze Ads

Your ads could also appear as part of a promoted search - when searching for petrol stations nearby, for example, you might see a Petronas ad. When you search for a McDonald's outlet near you, you might also see a paid search result for the nearest branch. The paid search ad for your company would appear when keywords similar to your business name is being searched.

    Waze Ad - Branded Pin

    Branded Pin

Last but not least, the branded pins would appear as you drive. You might see a small location pin with Volkswagen's logo depicting its outlet within close proximity to you as you drive. Not only can you get your company a potential clients' consideration to visit - these simple branded pins can help your business branding as well! Users nearby can tap the pin to reveal your advertising graphic, and another tap can prompt them to visit your location.

    How Are Waze Ads Charged?

Unlike your typical search engine marketing bidding strategy, Waze ads charges on a cost-per-thousand impression basis. This means that you are charged a certain amount whenever your branded pins, paid search or takeover ads are shown a thousand times.

How Do Waze Ads Benefit Me?

Waze ads might not prompt users nearby to immediately visit your business - after all, they are likely to be on their way elsewhere already when they see the ads. However, Waze ads can help to build awareness by heaps and bounds - have your ad depicting your current promotion ready and Waze users nearby are bound to remember seeing your brand - at least subconsciously!

How Do I Measure my Ad Success?

When you run Waze ad, you can access the number of navigation saves, website visits, unique reach and frequency, driver loyalty and/or return visits among many other important stats! You can also compare your ad performance to the Waze benchmark for your business industry.

    What is Facebook Marketing?

Essentially, Facebook Marketing is all about the creation and usage of a Facebook page as a communication channel of your business. When someone says they are involved in Facebook marketing, you know that they are using their Facebook page to attract new clients, turning them into converting or purchasing customers and retaining them as part of their loyal fanbase.

What Type of Business Can Do Facebook Marketing?

When you try to open a Facebook page, you will be prompted to choose a page category. This is where you’ll notice that pretty much all types are businesses are eligible to do Facebook marketing!

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), big brands, communities and public figures alike can all be involved in Facebook marketing with different goals in mind.

SMEs could be more focused towards branding efforts and lead generation, as an example, while communities would be looking to drive traffic to their fundraising page and unique reach. Meanwhile, public figures could aim for unique video views or messaging interactions.

Whatever the goal might be, you will notice that pretty much all sorts of businesses are eligible to run Facebook marketing.

How to Set Up the Perfect Facebook Page

If you were able to reach the Facebook page category selection pictured above, chances are that you already completed step 1, which is to have your own personal Facebook profile.

A Facebook page creation is different from that of a Facebook profile. You can opt for the ‘Add Friend’ option when you are on someone’s Facebook profile, but not if you are on a Facebook page, where you can choose to like or follow it instead.

Based on the categories mentioned in the previous section, a great start to creating your perfect Facebook page would be to choose the page category that fits most closely to your business, because it would affect the accessible fields that you can edit later on. As an example, our PanPages TRINITY page was opened under the business category.

When selecting your Facebook page name, do think twice! While you are allowed to change your Facebook page name in most cases, it can take a long time to review.

Facebook Page Profile Photo Sizes & Recommendations

You are free to change your Facebook profile picture whenever you want with whatever you like - a nice selfie from your last Friday party, a memorable picture with your best mates in university, etc.

However, a business pages profile photos should be kept fairly constant. The best practice would be to have your business logo as your profile photo and nothing else! Of course, you can add small variations such as some signs of festivity during certain festive seasons like we did for Christmas 2018, but the creativity is really up to you!

Creating a 1:1 ratio version of your logo would be recommended, since you will be prompted to crop your image into a square one if you upload a file that is not square to start with. If your logo is rectangular, try creating a square version as well! Take a look at the two logo versions that we have below to cater to both sizes and dimensions.

Some businesses might actually do better with a different profile photo format. While most official business accounts would use logos, public figures can use a professional headshot, while a local restaurant or pub could feature their best-selling dishes as their profile photo.

Facebook Page Cover Photo Size & Recommendations

The large, horizontal image that appears on the top of your Facebook page would be what we refer to the cover photo - much like a blog header imager or a signboard on a shop. Ideally, the cover photo should also reflect your Facebook page’s identity.

You can update your Facebook page’s cover photo frequently to keep it updated with the latest promotions, offerings or even workshops and events that you have in store for your customers and clients.

The official cover photo dimensions are at 851 x 315 px. However, it’s alright if your cover photo does not fit that dimension exactly. When you upload your cover photo picture file, you will have the option to reposition the picture, soyou can center the images before you save it and keep that cover photo focused in the area that you have set.

The best practice would be to include a description for your cover photo to further elaborate on the ongoing promotions or events mentioned in the picture. As an example, when we held uploaded a cover photo for our business website workshop, we included the event details in the descriptions.

If you have an online retail store featuring the promotions, you can even include links in the descriptions to bring interested Facebook users to those specific links!

Creating a Short Description for your Facebook Page

When you edit the descriptions for your Facebook page, you will see it in the ‘About’ section of your Facebook page.

This includes your business information, contact information, your business story and other information. The general tip? Input as much information as possible, with priorities to your contact number, location, website and e-mail.

You can also include 1-2 sentences describing your business in the short description section. When people search for your company, this is the description that would appear in the search results, so remember to keep it short but informative! Additionally, this description could be the first touch point for your potential clients to get a glimpse of your brand personality.

    Facebook Page Username

Your Facebook page username works just like how usernames work when you create an account for Twitter, Instagram or just for your Steam games. This username would appear in the page URL to make your Facebook page easier to find.

As an example, your page name could be listed as PanPages.com, but your username can be PanPagesMY, which would be reflected in the URL.

This username feature is convenient for pages with long names which could be hard to remember, or just to differentiate your business page from the smaller branches located throughout the country.

With a username, your clients can look for you just by typing fb.me/PanPagesMY or message the page at m.me/PanPagesMY. A convenient feature!

Be careful about choosing your page username! This cannot be changed later on unlike how a page name can be changed.

Usernames are limited to only 50 characters, and has to be unique - if it is being used by another business page, you will not be able to use that username.

Creating an Effective Call-to-Action for your Facebook Page

You Facebook page basics is pretty much nicely set up now, and we can now implement a call-to-action for it! You can prompt your page visitors to perform an action valuable for your business.

If you have a reservation-based business such as hotels or Airbnbs, the ‘Book Now’ button could be more suitable than an ‘Install Now’ button, as an example. If you have a medical care-based Facebook page meanwhile, a ‘Call Now’ button could be much more important than a ‘Send Message’ one as well.

Under each button category, there are several other selections that can be better suited for your business. Some would require you to input a link that the visitors can go to upon clicking it. The ‘Learn More’ button, for example, could bring the users to an external website - their official business website, their YouTube channel and much more.

A service-based business like ours which could require some information before our customers convert would do better with a ‘Send Message’ button, which we are currently using.

There’s so much more to explore with these CTA buttons! You might want to get started with automated replies acknowledging that you have received your users’ messages, or even try advanced chatbot options such as Chatfuel!

    Facebook Page Interaction Optimization

The simplest way to get started, especially if you have ‘Send Message’ as your CTA button, is to enter your page settings, and go to the ‘Messaging’ tab.

As part of the best practices, you should always keep the ‘Prompt people to send messages’ option switched on.

What that button does is that the chatbox for that page would automatically pop up when a user lands on your Facebook page on two conditions: When you are online on the page, or when your page has achieved the badge ‘Very Responsive to Messages’.

This simple action can go miles in prompting users to send you a message to ask about what they want to know - improving user interaction rates. You can take this a step further by using the ‘Stay Responsive’ and ‘Show a Messenger Greeting’ option which you can find under the same settings page.

Under the stay responsive option, you can preset an instant reply for your Facebook page. When a user inputs a certain query, they will immediately get that response, whether or not you are there to manage the Facebook page.

This can significantly shorten the response time for your Facebook page, a performance criteria which would enable you to customize the Response Time badge which can only be displayed once you started replying in a day or less 75% of the time. If you don’t have this response rate, you will not be able to display the badge or modify the messages.

Users seeing the ‘Typically replies instantly’ badge on your Facebook page would be more encouraged to send their inquiries to you through Facebook messenger.

Our Facebook page has switched on all the available messaging optimizations mentioned above, and when you land on PanPages TRINITY’s Facebook page, here’s how the chatbox would look like:

We have a messenger greeting that pops up once the chatbox is open, and an instant reply that prompts our users to key in some of their contact details for us to follow up with them later.

Of course, this message is just tailored to suit our purposes. Try setting up different types of messages to A/B test its efficacy and performance!

    Facebook Grey Verification Badge

Any business pages can get a grey verification badge. This badge will show that a business page is authentic in representing who or which business it claims to be.

To verify your business, you can go into the page settings, and go under the general tab where you will see the ‘Page Verification’ option. Here, you can choose to either upload a business official document with your business name and business address on it, or to request a phone call from Facebook to your business’ official phone number with a 4-digit verification code.

You can only request to verify your business if your page has a profile photo, a cover photo, and some posts on the page.

After uploading either the documents or the 4-digit code, your information will then take a few days to be processed, and after that, you will receive an e-mail about the verification status. Remember that page verification is not a requirement for a business page, but rather, a recommended option.

Once you are verified, you will have a grey tick next to your page, giving you a higher page rank in comparison to other similar pages!

If you’re wondering about the unique blue badges, keep in mind that only certain brands and public figures can get these badges - you cannot request for the blue badges!

That's all for part 2 of our Facebook marketing guide! We hope that this guide will be helpful for you to set up your Facebook page. Have any questions about setting up your Facebook page?Drop your questions in the comments below and we'll get back to you soon!

How to Best Use Facebook Marketing

Malaysian Facebook Users Statistics, Building Your Business on the Most-Used Social Media, Gaining Loyal Followers & Growing Your Business - All on Facebook
10 years ago, Facebook was the social media platform that replaced Friendster, a handy social media site where you can play Pet Society, Farmville and the like. You’d make Facebook notes, post statuses and pictures et cetera. It was THE social media website - a platform that would cause you to get weird looks from your peers if you were to tell them, “I don’t have a Facebook account.”

Today, it’s a flexible and powerful online marketing tool, and it’s as if your business is expected to have your own Facebook page, just like how you should already have your own business website.

    And guess what? That’s true.

Why You Need to Put Your Business on Facebook

You probably already know this, but Facebook really has a large user base with various accessible insights and targeting options if you know how to look for it.

Whether you are trying to build up your company brand via Facebook, reaching mass , generic audience or a small niche market - 46-55 years old females staying in Petaling Jaya with ‘Chief Marketing Officer’ as their Facebook job titles AND interested in beauty and healthcare, you can do this all via Facebook.

Of course, this is only possible if the users have logged their interests based on their page likes and post engagement habits, or if they have updated their job titles in their profile.

Look, we know the rumors and craze. Facebook is collecting your data, it shows you ads about things that you have just been talking about, blah blah blah.

In truth, Facebook will not be able to target you if you have no such information displayed on your profile or in your browsing patterns, but we can find out the rough estimate of these figures without finding your personal details via Facebook Audience Insight and Facebook Ad Manager.

    Malaysian Facebook User Statistics 2019

If you haven’t tried using Facebook Audience Insight, then you totally should. This handy little tool helped us to find all the information and statistics below!

Most Facebook guides out there focus on the U.S. audience or worldwide audience, but we understand that most of our clients here are looking for a more local-based ad targeting and relevant statistics to help them understand why Facebook is a good platform to start with social media marketing.

Pretty much every single type of data below can be an ad targeting option for your Facebook Ad campaigns. See why we say Facebook is a super flexible and powerful marketing and advertising platform? Let’s take a look at some of the information of Malaysian Facebook users below.

User Demographics - Active Facebook Users, Age Range & Gender

According to Facebook Audience Insight tools, there are 20-25M monthly active users in Malaysia alone, with 56% being male and the remaining 44% female.

Generally speaking, it’s still the younger audience aged between 18 and 34 that are active on Facebook, but it’s still possible to target older audiences on Facebook.

It would be a good idea to provide Facebook content for both genders when you first start up your Facebook Business Page, but later on as you are able to access your page insights to find more specific details about the audience on your page, you can cater your Facebook page content to suit specific age ranges and genders better.

User Demographics - Relationship Status & Education Level

While most of these Facebook users are married and have graduated from one university or another, there is also quite a portion of other relationship and education level demographics.

These little details, while seemingly trivial, could be the perfect targeting option for, let’s say, romantic holiday resorts for the engaged couples’ upcoming honeymoon, your upcoming flower bouquet with custom delivery instructions for those in a relationship on Valentine’s Day, or even college admission prompts for high school student graduates.

User Demographics - Cities and Towns

Not too surprisingly, the majority of Malaysian Facebook users are from Kuala Lumpur and Selangor with it being Malaysia’s capital city - the state with denser population as compared to several other states in Malaysia.

As such, Facebook marketing and ad targeting - which we would come to later - in the Klang Valley could reach more users compared to if you, let’s say, target only Kulim in Kedah, or Pulai in Johor.

Contrary to popular beliefs, the number of Facebook users from Kuching, Sarawak and Kota Kinabalu, Sabah made it in the Top 10 Facebook users’ towns/cities too, right after Penang, Selangor and Johor! Hmm, perhaps it’s about time that we stop neglecting these states in our marketing efforts simply because they are not within Semenanjung Malaysia!

User Demographics - Job Titles & Industries

So, which industry is your business in? Industrial businesses can easily target users from construction and maintenance services and production, while food production lines can target users working in food and restaurants, etc.

While this list only shows the industry of our local Facebook users, you can target individuals with specific job titles via Facebook Ad Manager if you want to.

However, do keep in mind that the more niche and focused your target group is, the less the number of people that you can expect your ads to reach, or they might not even run at all!

User Facebook Usage - Top Languages

What you’re looking at is the average Malaysian Facebook users’ language setting on this platform, and not the language in which they post their statuses or the content language that they view.

Well, we DO live in Malaysia, so it’s not too surprising to see that Malay is a close second top language as compared to English (US), followed by English (UK)!

Generally, you can still opt to target English (All) or Chinese (All) if you are thinking about reaching only users who reach a certain language - no need to target exclusively English (UK) or English (US)!

It would also be important to keep in mind that some Malay users would still set their Facebook language settings to English or other languages, just like how Chinese or Indian Facebook users would have their Facebook accounts set to the default English settings despite posting in other languages. it’s still best to leave the language targeting untouched, and to make your ad content relevant instead!

User Facebook Usage - Top Devices

82% of these users are active on Facebook via mobile devices only, whereas another 16% is active on platforms. The percentage of desktop-exclusive users? Only 2%.

If you haven’t mobile-optimized your business website or any other sites that you are inviting your Facebook users to, we hope that this statistic would serve as a gentle reminder for you to do so!

Similarly, your page content - especially the images, should be optimized for mobile display. This means no wall of text, no tiny texts or fancy formats that would be difficult to read from the phone!

Now that you have the insights into the behaviour of Malaysian Facebook audience, what are you planning to do with the information?
